DP never wanted to see, but due to an unplanned home birth, he didn't have much choice. The 000 operator asked him if there was a head, so with me down on my knees groaning away, DP had to have a look.

He's still horrified to this day LOL

Well I had a c-section so no. However DH would not even cut the cord and still says he will not cut the cord for baby #2 so I very much doubt he will be down the business end for our next baby. In fact he would quite happily not be there, he would rather not be there Sad I told him there is no way he is getting out of it, I have to be there so he has to be there also Not talking

My DF was down that end and it is a quite a joke between us now. We find us quoting what I said often.

He was down there bent over with the midwives, with a look of disgust but intriguement. The poor thing, I still remember in between pushes yelling at him(with a few curses thrown in)

"If you going to 'beeping' be down there take that 'beeping' look off your face.

He shyly walked back up to my head end and sat in the chair with a sad puppy look on his face.

Within one minute he was back down the 'business' end. He had tried to position himself between the midwives so that I couldnt not see him, of course I could! But the look on his face as our DS came into the world was absolutely PRICELESS!

As he said afterwards and still til today, yes it wasnt pretty but the end result is so worth it!!!

All this from the guy that nearly passed out when the Epi was getting done!!

DH watched both of my C-Sections. The first one was an emergency one. I asked him if they had started and he reply "Just" with a tear in his eye. Apparently they had started a few minutes before this.

Both times he saw our girls enter the world.

My husband watched my c/s- he jokes that he has seen more of my body than me!Flapper I know that there is no way I wanted to see any of it.

And he has seen quite a few of our babies birthed naturally...when I have been in a good position for him to see. He has even caught some of our bubbas.BigGrin

To my utter surprise, DH was well and truly watching - in fact, I was the only one in the room who didn't see what was going on.

I was really surprised he did, as shows like RPA normally totally gross him out!!

He did decline the offer by my Ob to actually deliver/catch DS though - we'll see if he changes his mind for this one!

my DH watched my dd1 and dd3. dd2 neither of us got to see being born as she was an emergency cs and i was knocked out.

dd1 was natural but i had an epidural and an episiotomy. i watched during the first stages of pushing but when she started to crown, they took the mirror away. and i get a bit weird during the after part of birth, cant explain it, but didnt wanna touch it or anything. anyway, i still remember the look on DH's face when they asked him if he wanted to watch zoe come out- it was a sort of errrrr... mixed with shock and a bit of nausea lol. he said it reminded him of the movie 'alien' when the alien bursts out of the guys chest lol.

dd3, i had another cs. they lifted her up for him to see. then asked him if he had a strong stomach he says no. they say, oh but just take a peek over the sheet to see your baby girl, you wont see anything. he looks and of course saw my guts all out and everywhere. i was freaked out by the idea, and after birth didnt want to do skin time (i ahve this thing where after birth, i prefer to have our bonding time free of needles etc. i dont feel confortable or relaxed unless i am needle free otherwise i just feel anxious) but yeah, it took a fair few weeks before i could let him tell me. he kept saying 'with what i saw, i'm surprised you can do anything!' and i;d be like ah ah ah i dont wanna hear it just yet i'm not ready!

I had an emergency c/s, so they wouldn't let DH look, he wanted to tho, he's been a theatre tech in a hospital and knew the Dr assisting - they were having a chat over my head while it was all going on!

haveing another c/s this time and he's hoping that he can convince them to let him see some of it this time.

my DH was also fascinated by the entire process and was very interested to watch with my DD. With our DS1 we asked our OB if we could have my DH assist somehow with the delivery. Little did we know that DS1 came so quickly that it didn't matter that we had got the ok from our OB he didn't make it in time and my DH had to deliver him anyway Blink !! lucky for us he wasn't adverse to the idea! And because he had done it before he also delivered our DS2 as well. He really enjoyed the opportunity to be so involved, to not just watch but to actually assist his babies into the world is an amazing priveledge!

He did say that it really is very bizarre to look at a head sticking out of "there".....somethign just not quite right about it BigGrin ! ha but it didnt' turn him off at all Smile

Both my kids were born by c-section and DH was adament that he would in no way look at the operation being done nor cut the cord. With DD he had no choice as she wasn't breathing when she came out but with DS he was kind of forced into cutting the cord. He said he didn't like it BUT he still has the pair of scissors that he used hidden away and I know he really did secretly like it!!

DP actually delivered our daughter on Monday just gone Woot

I think he is still horrified because bub needed forceps and I needed an epi.... but at the end of the day, he delivered our baby and no-one can ever take that feeling away from him....

And I'm so proud of him for doing that Wub

Plus one of my external stitches has already fallen out, so DP has the glamerous task of putting steri-strips on my "war wounds" every day OhMyGod
