Well I am now the proud owner of a nearly brand new (but older model) ergo carrier. It was a completely spur of the moment buy, I was at a homeschooling market and someone was selling it at a very good price. So tell me about it, what do I need to know? Any sites I should check out to tell me how to use it? It will mostly be for DH as I have my sling and I am very happy with it, especially for a NB but I guess I will be using it too at times. So ok, what do I need to know?

I got my Ergo when DS was about 3 or 4 months old but found it not much good til he was about 7 months. You can get an infant insert but I much prefer the Hug-a-Bub or a sling anyway at that age.

Not much else to say really from me... I could never get the hang of putting DS on my back in the Ergo. Some people are pro's at it but I just seemed to fail at that one!! RollEyes Smile

It's a great carrier and you wont be sorry. ThumpUp ThumpUp

She was also selling an infant insert but I have decided to stick with the sling anyway so didn't get it, I was thinking I would give it a try at about 6 months but use my sling till then at least.

The ergo website has some great video's on how to wear them, should still apply even though you have the older model. They are great, DH actually asks me to get the ergo now when we go out with DD :)
DD goes on my back (or did before I got too big out front) and loves it. It's a lot easier to put them on your back when they are a lot older, I'd say 18 months plus.
I plan to use it with the infant insert when the next baby is born.

head to babes in arms, they have a blog attached that will answer any question you have about the ergo, you can also see my blogs for them from when I had Charlize up until recently of how I found it. I agree with Bek a little, I found the sling easier in the early day then after a few months of age its ergo all the way! Totally love it!

you know what I think for the first few mths you'll find it really helpful for your toddler. They are awesome for 2-3+ yr olds on the back. It makes outings so much easier!

Pheonix, actually I was thinking about getting DH to test it out with our nearly 3YO on the weekend, she has ditched the pram but still likes to get carried at times so I'm sure she will be happy to give it a go.

I haven't used it for a newobrn, but I just bought one (and the insert) for a good friend who's due in 4 weeks. BigGrin

There are videos on youtube too.

LOVE our ergo!!!
Only used it for newborn with insert for DS2 (and he grew quite quickly into a heavy boy, so not sure how it would go with a little newborn), but we use it weekly still and he is almost 7 months old.
We haven't tried DS1 in it for a while , but he would go nicely on the back I think (must do that soon!!).

Honestly, it is a god send - especially if you have other kids. You'll have your hands free, be comfortable, and have your little bub nice and close!!
