Hi ladies,

Dh and i are seeing the doctor for the first time to get tests done to see if there is anything wrong with us.
Can anyone tell me what tests we are in for?

Thanks

Hey!
I went recently and Dh had to have a semen analysis and the doctor told me start using OPK's and if we've still had no luck in a few months they are going to do something (which had a very complicated name I can't remember) to check if I have any blockages or anything.
Hope it goes well!

Has your doctor already agreed to do tests? I only ask cos from my experience and what I hear most docs wont test unless you have been TTC for a year or unless you have some history to suggest your likely to have fertility issues.

For me I got pg within about 4 months with my first and assumed it would be as easy this pregnancy. After 9 months I went to my GP/Ob and showed him my cycle charts that I had been tracking since first TTC this showed him that my cycle's where irregular (any where from 28 days to 40 days+); this is one thing they like to see or may ask you to go away and track this for a few months. They sent DH for a semen test.

I was then sent for blood tests over 2 cycles to see IF i was actually ovulating, these tests where timed to be taken once just after when I should have ovulated. There is some version of this test that you go EVERY day and I think the point is to tell you prior to you ovulating.

DH semen test turned out all ok, but my blood tests showed I was either NOT ovulating or if I did it was very late in the cycle wich meant the quality of the egg was poor.

Another blood tests I had showed my hormone levels where outta wake and my body produced more testosterone than it should that makes getting pg more difficult. You may be sent for this to?

All my symptoms pointed to PCOS, I had an ultrasound also as with PCOS there can be cycsts on the ovaries but wasnt for me.

My GP / Ob then referred us to a fertility specialist which reviewed the tests already done then sent me and DH for blood tests wich he said was to test for 'everything' such as possible genetic issues / hormone and thyroid levels and a bunch of other stuff.

Other than my PCOS there was no other known issue at this time (my PCOS meant for me I either didnt ovulate or if I did not at a good time and was poor quality of egg). My specialist was going to start me on clomid but before we did we got pg ThumpUp He did say that after 6 months of clomid if no luck he would do some procedure on me where he looks in my tubes / ovaries with a camera.

Good luck -

Have a look in the fertility issues section as some good advice and threads in there.
Good luck
Cheers Chantelle

Thanks for the info ladies,

Gp is doing starting the testing stage for us tomorrow.

We have been trying for 13 months now and have had no luck.

I've also had surgery earlier this year for ovarian cysts (5th surgery now) but this time they had to remove the right ovary.

Doctor thinks this may be part of the problem, but i guess we will have to wait and see.
