Thanks for all your lovely words of support ladies! Feel much better and more reassured Smile I did think it was a little premature to be going through such intensive info regarding BF when I don't have a baby to practice with yet!! RollEyes

Just thread crashing to say...I found it really useful to read about breastfeeding before DD arrived, not so much on the attachment and actual feeding part (that is impossible to do without a baby to clamp to your nipple) but more about what is normal, how often BF babies poo, that they don't need to be given water, how many feeds a day they can need etc. As there is a lot of mis-information out there, and sometimes it comes from the midwives at the hospital.
There are lots of really good Bfing books out there Smile Goodluck!!
DD1 - December 2009 - breastfed for 22 months
DD2 - January 2012 - straight back onto the booby feeding bandwagon

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the oh so close weekend! I know I am!!!

I just updated the list as after my last midwife appt they aksed me to do ANOTHER GTT! This will be my 4th 2 hour GTT this pregnancy and I am praying it will be the last one and I clear it again!

Casey - I can't believe I only have about 5 weeks now left of work, I hope the time keeps going this quickly, but I am also a little worried as I get bored so easily and I don't want to stress myself out at home for weeks and weeks if baby keeps us waiting :) 10 weeks will fly by too for you, it is so exciting when the finish line is in sight! I too am sleeping better just because I am so shattered when I get home from work! How exciting to sort all ur paperwork out at ur middy appt and that DP can stay over with you! Sounds like a lovely hospital. I too hope DH can stay with me if the hospital aren't too busy. And I had my first antenatal class on Tuesday - we learnt about looking after your pelvic floor and back! But we did that for 2 hours in the most unconmfortable plastic chairs ever! I hope u have some nice comfy seats or bean bags as I may need to bring a cushion to the next ones :)

Hope everyone else is well!

allicia, like rosiejayne said, it does not at all hurt to read as much as you can when it comes to bfing, but when it comes to anything else, its really pointless. i know some hosp run a bf course, and they get you to practice with dolls and such, but that is pointless, every baby attaches differently, you may need to try 101 different positions, and having a light, still doll to "feed" is easier then a sometimes up to 4kg wiggling fussing bubba to try and attach. so yes read everything you can. most midwives will help and assist you in hosp with bubs anyway, so there is always help just a call away!!

omgosh eileen, 4th gtt?? why on earth??? that sounds really really strange. i was borderline fasting with my gtt and they took that to mean that i would develop it, so i didnt need to do any repeat testing. you must be so over it by now, just one is enough for me, you poor thing Sad

yay casey for the move!! good luck!!! so exciting!! and how wonderful that you can have dh stay with you! you are very lucky!! fingers crossed i always have a private room, i keep forgetting to ask them when i have my appts, so i think i may get another private as i think they only have private rooms there, but they dont encourage partners to stay with you, hell they get cranky if they visit outside of visiting hours, i had a bit of a melt down after i had bella and they were so rude that i wanted dp to come in after he finished work at 10pm. anyhoo...... yay that you have that sorted now, it will be a wonderful time for the three of you!! and dont worry about the not leaking or anything. every woman is different and every body reacts different. it wont have any affect on whether you bf or not. just remember that while we may have colostrum leaking, it doesnt mean our milk will come in any quicker then what yours will. it may still take us 5-10days. also, the more traumatic the birth, the longer the wait for breast milk to come in. with bel i lost nearly 700ml of blood, so they said that would delay the milk coming in til almost 10 days after the birth, and yup, they were pretty much right, i think it took 11 or 12 days

anyhoo..... i have to learn to stop talking!! haha!!! everything going well here. bubs today is totally kicking up a storm. it turned a while back, and omgosh, i forgot how painful that can be! i am totally convinced this is a boy though. whatever it is, its super active! bella was active and liam lazy and then they grew up the opposite, when bel was a baby, she was lazy and when liam was a baby he was super active, so i guess we will see!! 25wks today, so only about 13wks to go!!! scary!!! im slightly freaking as to how the heck im going to deal with 3 kids!! aaarrrggggghhhhh too late now though!!

Had my 25 week ob appt today and discussed my birth plan. My ob is more than happy with my choice of an active labour and trying for drug free. My hospital is well equipped for this and very pro-drug-free births and like to encourage it. My ob is an anaesthetist also anyway so if I did need an epidural he would do it for me.

He's also happy for me to give birth in any position and believes in steering away from back and stirrups delivery anyway.

He's also happy for me to have lots of skin to skin contact, she will be put straight up to or onto my chest (unless medical attention is needed) to encourage natural BFing instinct (since DD and I had BFing issues for the first few weeks) so I'm really happy to get some thoughts out there and glad he is happy with everything.

I have my cervical length scan in a couple of weeks and another ob appt a few days later to get the results.

That's it from me! Sorry for no personals :-(

sorry ladies i have been MIA, i have been busy and buggered and just reading to keep myself updated on you all.

Im only going to do a quick update and come back tomorrow to do personals. sorry Blushing Sad

AFU, had our appt at the hospital with the midwife and she then she puts me onto the ob, all is good off to see the ob on the 31st. All seems great and growing nicely. Will know more when we see the ob it was mainly answering questions etc.

Didnt realise that we dont need a referral to have a 4d scan done, so i have been waiting to book. Finally did today and cant get in till feb 16th so took that appt anyway. Cant wait to see her again. Its too long between scans.

I have to have another GTT 2hr test, so that is happening next wednesday Sad im a bit scared!!! Thinking this may not be a good one.

Apart frome that and my skin going all yucky and acne starting im going well. Starting to get exhausted! 5more weeks left of work!!!! thankgod!!

Having problems at work doesnt help, its definately a high stress job, i have done nothing but sook all day!!! well since i came home, think hormoens are setting in. Not to mention not so good news with my nan chemo isnt working cancer has spread levels and size has increased Crying will try a different chemo for 2 lots and see if it does anything n levels go down if not, then its quality of life from then on and spend as much time with her as possible!! Just makes it so hard when my hormones are all over the place too!!

OMG im sorry ladies, i come in here and have a winge!

aw emjay that bites about your nan Sad gbhs
hope your gtt comes back okay, hope you can be a bit less stressed for it, as that can increase your bsl as well. yay for a 4d scan!! hope you can share the pics!

yay rach for everything being good at your 25wk appt and having an ob who is willing to accommodate you and please you, coz in the end, its you that needs to be happy!!

hello to everyone else!!

afu, well atm, it seems my body is settling on 20 units of insulin a night, so fingers crossed it wont go much higher, but i have a long way to go, so i reckon it will.

has anyone else got really bad dry skin? i have it on my face, and while it isnt noticeable, i can feel it and hate it. i have never had dry skin on my face before Confused today when we went to the shops, and i was in the sun while getting kids in and out of the car, it felt like i was being burned Crying like i had a bad sunburn and was getting burned again, that sort of burn. i have a few eczema creams that i have been putting on my face due to the fact that liam had bad eczema when he was younger, but other then that i dont use anything. the joy of pregnancy!!!

Nic my skin is always dry but even more so when pregnant..it's really bad. Have u tried moo goo products before? they are great..the only thing that works for me and also using plain sorbolene as body wash instead of soup.

Just a quick one from me, as I forgot to come on Friday to update you all. OB appt all went well, back to my starting weight now since being pregnant which means I haven't put weight on yet its all baby! ThumpUp I noticed in the mirror yesterday I really have my face shape back and not the round thing I did have before I got pregnant!! I can see the dent between my gaw and cheek bones again!! Laugh Dancing Oh the little things that make me happy! RollEyes LOL

Bubs is growing well and still pretty sure is head down. Sometimes I can feel Ninja roll around so that it's laying sidewards but then later on moves back to head down! ThumpUp Good Baby! ThumpUp Getting lots of movement now. Should of see my belly yesterday afternoon!! Blink It was like a circus came to town and set up tent in my belly! Laugh

We're currently moving too atm. So much happier in the new house! ThumpUp stayed their last night, mind you had to pack an overnight bag as DP hasn't brought our clothes or cupboards over yet to the new house! Laugh But I can't wait until we're all done and I can start the Nursery!!!! ThumpUp Dancing Dancing

Got one of my two baby showers next Sat 28th as well! ThumpUp Can't wait!! ThumpUp BigGrin

Sorry for no personal's very busy my end and we don't have net at home atm so until then sorry ladies, will get to you all next time.

But on a quick note, I also have had a dryer face since being pregnant. I had to change moisturisers and am now using Cetaphil moisturiser as it is nicer for dry skin and haven't had any irritation yet. (You get it from the chemist)

Have a nice weekend ladies!! ThumpUp

Hi ladies!!

Really hope you are all feeling well and can now count down the weeks left at work!! 6 left for me, hooray!! Dancing Oh, and happy Australia Day for tomorrow!

Casey I hope you are all unpacked and settled into your new home, how exciting!! You have one well trained baby for it to be head down, very clever Applause I love how we can see the movement now, and yep, does feel like a little circus in there most of the time! Very cool!

Nic my skin has always been a little sensitive and therefore likes to go between dry and a bit oily, but is has been soooo dry since I've been pg! It keeps peeling, which is gross Blink I've found cetaphil the best. Glad your body has settled with the insulin, fxd it stays that way!

Emjay really sorry to hear about your Nan Crying Hormones really don't help at all, when you're trying to cope! Thinking of you xx ...and hope your GTT went well!

Rach sounds like you've got a pretty awesome ob, it's so great to have someone who takes into account what you want but also makes some really positive suggestions. It all sounds really lovely and I do hope it goes according to plan for you!

AFM just counting down the weeks left at work, really finding it a struggle to get here everyday! Having lots of issues with my back-so have been referred to the hospital physio to go through some exercises and will probably be issued with a support belt...how attractive!! LOL I've got this really painful stitch-like sensation at the top of my tummy (just under my boobs) that won't go away. Apparently it's the muscles stretching and separating, goodness it's painful! Bored

I have my baby shower this Sunday, so really excited and looking forward to celebrating madam's imminent arrival with everyone! Very special!

Hope you all have a really wonderful weekend and hope it isn't too hot where you are! Take care of yourselves xx

Blink Its been very quiet in here lately. Hope everyone is just quiet as they have nothing to report. ThumpUp

Hannah, Cassie & Robyn - haven't heard from you girls in a while and I hope you're travelling along well.

Allicia Applause Applause Lucky you only having 6wks left (or is it 5 now as its the end of the week?!) I have got 8 to go now! Dancing Dancing
Sorry to hear your stomach muscles are so sore, hope they ease up for you soon. ThumpUp And tell me about the back ache, by the end of the day all I want to do is lay flat on my back, but I can't!ThumbDown I've found using a cushion behind my lower back when I am sitting at work helps a lot. ThumpUp

Nic glad to hear you have got the GD under control. ThumpUp FXed it doesn't need too much more units throughout the rest of the pregnancy. ThumpUp Hope you've found something to help with the dry skin, as Allicia and I have said we use cetaphil and its working well for us. ThumpUp Or you could try what Jodie is using as well. ThumpUp

Emjay Hope your GTT test went well and came back clear. Sorry to hear about your Nan, my Grandma was diagnosed with bowel cancer before Xmas in 2010 and so far she is on the mend, so FXed your Nan's next bout of Chemo does the trick!! Pray Pray And WOOO Dancing Not long for you to go now for work!! Dancing Dancing

Rach Its nice to hear your OB is on board with your labour! ThumpUp At our last antenatal class it was about natural birth and my hospital and midwives seem to let us do what we want and need to get through the labour to have a natural birth if we want one ThumpUp Which I was also glad to hear, means no requests or questions from me! ThumpUp

Eileen Hope your GTT went well and it was the last one! ThumpUp Our chairs aren't too hard Laugh They're still not the most comfy ones but hey its ok, at least they're cushioned! ThumpUp

Hope I covered everyone. ThumpUp If not sorry and HI! BigGrin

AFU Well we're all moved into the new house and OMG we feel so at home now and we've already handed the keys back for the old place on Wednesday! Dancing 2 days early! We really wanted out of there! Laugh So the house is pretty much unpacked and sorted out, now its time for the Nursery!! Dancing Dancing So I will get to that on Sunday after the baby shower!! ThumpUp

Had another OB appt this morning. Ninja is still head down! ThumpUp She had a bit of trouble finding Ninja's heart beat as bubs decided to lay right at the back and hide! Laugh She got it but was a little quiet and hard to hear clearly! Laugh She said it was a busy night and day yesterday with lots of Patriotic bubs wanting to be born so she was a little tired, just glad I wasn't one of them. Laugh

We've had 2 of the 6 (or is it 8) antenatal classes now. ThumpUp The last class was on natural birth and things you can do to help yourself through it naturally. Was interesting and gave me a whole new light on the whole natural birth thing. I thought people were made wanting to do it naturally but after watching the video and all the things that the midwife discussed and showed us I can understand why women attempt it. So this coming Monday's is on pain relief, so we will learn about that and then I will look at what I want in regards to my birth plan because up until the last class I was just dead set on having all pain killers on standby Laugh for when I wanted them. Laugh

Well nothing left to report here, all going well. Really tired again now but I think the PH didn't help that at all! So confused, feels like it should be Monday! Laugh

Have a nice weekend! BigGrin

hi Ladies, Just hopped on to catch up It apears everyone is travelling along ok.
I had my GD test fri morn and have an OB apt thursday morning so will get results then.

I go back to work on friday when school starts back here so I'll work for about 8 weeks then Ed dept rules say I have to finish 6 weeks before my due date. It will be strange as with DD1 I worked until 1 week before and with DD2 I work till I had 4 weeks to go but the new principal is following guidelines even though I'm not employed by the ed dept but by school council to run the OSHC program. I will be returning to work at the start of third term so bub will be about 10 weeks if all goes to plan.

My only irk at the moment is that everyone keeps telling me I look to small to only have 12/13 weeks to go. Oh and DD2 likes to poke me in the belly to get bub to kick her.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are feeling well ThumpUp

Rolymack- goodluck with your GTT results, fxd they come back clear!! Pray That's kind of annoying you have to finish work so early, I'm finishing 4wks before and I think any earlier than that I'd go a bit crazy!! It's funny the comments you get about your bump-I have people tell me that I either look big OR small for my dates!Brick wall I don't know why they insist on passing judgement-because I really don't believe it is any indication on how big or small bubs will be!!

Casey- glad to hear your antenatal classes are giving you some really practical and reassuring info. Hope you had a wonderful time at you baby shower yesterday!! Dancing

AFM I had my baby shower yesterday, I had a really lovely time-but am now exhausted!! Bored Little miss got absolutely spoilt, soooo many clothes-she is going to be one well dressed baby!! I don't think we're really going to have to buy another thing! I was really overwhelmed how generous everyone was and a lot acknowledged Samuel and our tough journey in the guest book...awww!! Wub
Had my physio appt today, which went well. It is unfortunate I sit at a desk most of the day as there is not much they can do to prevent my back pain, but they have given me some exercises to help reduce the discomfort. I've also been fitted with a stretch bandage that goes over my tummy, which I can wear all day, that will support my back a bit. So far it is helping a little. I also have a support belt that I can wear over the top on really bad days!!

Enough from me-should really get back to work LOL Take care xx

hello ladies BigGrin i have been stalking lately, sorry Blushing

yay casey for settling in so quick!! must be so good to have a great house to now call home!!

allicia, i use to get the worst sore back when i was preg with bel, i had a desk job, but i was able to get up and walk around if i wanted, so that helped quite a bit some days, other days, i just couldnt be bothered Blushing

rolymack, good luck with the gtt, hope it comes back clear for you!

hello to all our other lovely ladies out there in stalking world!! haha!!

afu, nothing new. we have so far survived the heat. omgosh, so many days over 40, which in this house was more around the 50 mark. my dry skin seems to have disappeared as quick as it arrived, but i will keep in mind the cream you have all suggested. although its still a bit sensitive to light and sun, but that i can deal with as long as its not as dry anymore. nothing much really else, lots of movements. it still feels so tiny in there as well, like teeny tiny arms and legs and hands and feet! feels so awesome when you know exactly what part it is that is poking and prodding you!! haha!!! i have my scan and dr/ob appt on wednesday, nice and early too, scan booked for 8.15am, which means i have to leave by the latest 7am to get there, not looking forward to that at all Sad all well, at least i get to see bubs, that will be good!! up to 22 units a night now, and that seems to be working so far, fingers crossed. anyhoo, ive bored you enough!!

BigGrin HIIIII

Gosh I am so hungry... Laugh And tired, has any one else had the tiredness set back in yet?? Its hit me here and the insomnia is back as well!! Sneaky Not happy JAN!!! ThumbDown Sneaky

Nic are you still looking at moving?? Had much luck?? Sucks you had such bad weather and no Air Con! I don't know how you survived in that heat without one! I would of died!! ThumbDown Glad your skin's feeling better and the GD are being controlled well. ThumpUp

Allicia Glad you had a nice day at your baby shower and yep I did too!!ThumpUp Hope your back is a bit better now with the support belt. I have a pillow behind my back (well its a special back one) and it straps to the chair, as like you, I work sitting down most of the time too. Our next antenatal class we have a physio coming in and the midwives were telling us it is like a free physio session! ThumpUp So I am looking forward to some tips for my back and hips! ThumpUp

Rolymack Hope your GD test comes back clear. Pray And Dancing wooo for almost being on Maternity leave, I couldn't imagine having 6wks off - I'd go bonkers!! Laugh

AFU All is going well here, insomnia has come back again! Sneaky ThumbDown And really tired again! ThumbDown On a positive note tho, Baby shower went really well! ThumpUp Managed to get all the money I needed to get the BJCS! Woot ThumpUp So I ordered it last night!! Dancing Dancing Can't wait for it to arrive!! Woot Also got two massive nappy cakes and lots of other little bits and pieces. ThumpUp Still have another baby shower to go and this little bub is going to be spoilt!! ThumpUp We started clearing out the nursery on Friday night (me and my SIL) and set up the change table. Laugh That was funny we got things wrong so ofter just from following the instructions! Laugh So we've left DP the cot! ThumpUp Got to order the cot set soon, can't wait to have it all done. Need to get paint and a wardrobe and then we're all set to rock'n'roll!! ThumpUp

Had our 3rd class last night and it was about C/S's and pain relief. After the pain I went through from the M/C's I have a feeling I know what sort of pain I am in for and I didn't like it when I had the M/C's it was BAD! ThumbDown WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY worse then any period pain I have ever ever had so I am keen to be prepared for pain killers. Has any one had the Fenadril (spell???) its like the new pethadine but lot less side effects for mum and bub. Just wondering what your experience with it was because I don't like the sound of the gas and not feeling like I am all there where as with the Fenadril it sounds more like my cup of tea and not as complicated as having a Epidural.

Anyway better go, have a nice day everyone!! ThumpUp

yup, still desperately searching casey, we cant stay here, not enough room, liam is still in our bedroom, so no idea where we would put a baby!! so have to move, but it is getting awfully close now Blink Confused
as for the pain relief, never heard of it so cant comment. i have only ever had pethadine shots, 2 each labour, as when i tried the gas, it made me sick and i hated it. but when i had the pethadine the last time, it made me so out of it, i needed dp and the midwife to help me to the toilet coz i couldnt walk and kept almost falling asleep, so thats why i have decided that i need to suck it up this time and deal with it myself! everyone has a different level of pain and no one is wrong with their pain relief decisions, or birthing decisions for that matter

anyway, cant wait for tomorrow morning, so i can see this bub again!! must make sure to mention that we dont want to know the sex, coz i think at this stage they can still tell, but i think once you get to 30wks it is much harder to tell as there is less space and more baby, so harder to see. coz they will be print out pics, i will have to take a pic on my phone and load it up that way, so wont be the best quality, but still i can show it off!!

Hooray!! We've been bumped to '3rd trimester' how exciting!DancingThumpUp

Casey-they gave me Fentanyl when I delivered Samuel, not my decision, but in that situation they try to keep you as 'drugged up' as possible to try and keep you calm. My experience, unfortunately, wasn't pleasant. Within 30mins of having the Fentanyl I couldn't stop vomiting Sick They gave me the strongest form of anti-nausea meds they have, which settled it a little, but everytime I got up to go to the loo and then got back into bed I would vomit. I think DH counted that I was sick 18 times over the course of the labour!! I don't want to scare you off-everyone has different reactions to drugs and I'm sure not everyone becomes sick because of it. I also had gas, which I LOVED!!Love It was out of my system in an instant, didn't make me sick and was just enough to take the edge off. Will definately be going gas again!! ThumpUp

Just a quick one here too, I'll come on and do personal later...

as far as I'm aware, its not a new drug because I remember from my pharmacy days (back in 2001-2004) Fentanyl ampoules.

I had a shot of Pethidine with DD and NEVER AGAIN would I opt for it. I still felt every contraction but I was passed out in between. It made me vomit and I reckon it also contributed to DD's already stressful feeding problems as it made her drowsy too.

Obviously it has different effects on each person but I would not recommend Pethidine or any similar drug. If you're going to have pain relief stronger than gas and air I'd skip the shots altogether and go straight to an epidural.

just my opinion!
