Pretty sure Preece is right, can't use any of the cream's. Try Blistex/Carmex since are cold sore lip balms - should help a bit. DH: 39 Me: 32 My Little Man, born 11th December 2009

Ive had a cold sore twice while pregnant/breastfeeding and when I asked at chemist I was told not to use any of the normal creams/patches. I ended up applying a small amount of white vinegar using a cotton bud after reading up online, it seems to kill it pretty fast. Hold it on for about a minute, about twice a day. Don't do it anymore or you'll burn your lips. Then I put Vaseline on as it dries them out so much. Seems to work reasonably well for me anyway, and no side effects for bub. Lots of other home remedies online, but I haven't tried anything else

Maybe try warm salty water with a cotton bud and it will help dry it out and plenty of Vaseline as cold sores thrive on dry lips. They are horrible things! ME:31 (Keryn) DH:32 DS Luke. 7/9/11

i use teething gel, no idea if its okay or not to use, probably not but i figure its a one off, coz i dont have to use it more then once generally, and if im willing to put the stuff in my babies mouth, then i should be happy to use it myself.
anyway, hope you find something to use. as PP said, ask the chemist
