hi all

i seriously need some boys names ideas.

things that are out are- anything with a z as we have zoe; no hayden etc as we have a hayley 1st cousin; my other dd's names are rhianna and brooklyn. no thomas and no nicholas. i am not into....i guess you could call them 'feminine' boys names (as in, names that can go for either sex iygwim? ) and i also dont like common or 'plain' names, i dont want my child to have the same name as 20 other kids iygwim.....i like names that arent as common, but not the really different names that arent traditionally names iygwim....there are other names that are out but those ones are the most important for now... esp as essentially i will take all your names on board and wittle them away and if i choose one, you wont find out which oen til baby is born, like with dd3 whose name was suggested on here by katesmummy in a similar thread :)

i did have beau sylvester but hubby doesnt seem to like it and thought i should try and get a list together of what i do like, but cant find my baby name book anywhere Confused beau is a fave of mine and sylvester is my pops middle name. hubby doesnt like beau due to someone that lived in the town we lived in... just that he was a bit of an a-hole but i was like, you cant just say no because of that !?

also been thinking of trying to incorporate some of my nans scottish heritage into it.... only issue is i dont have much to go off, my parents dont wanna know the sex and if i asked my dad it would give it away... but nans family name was chambers and her family crest/clan was kerr.

oh and just to make it easier- can you add your ideas to an alphabetical list :) thank you

Sebastian? Seamus?
Timothy? Trent?
Type in google 'scottish names'

I know how you feel- we have only one name that we really like & if he's not that name when we see him, then we're in the same boat!

My DH and I have a scottish boys name picked already!! As my Mum is scottish and we also wanted to include some heritage but I'm not sharing that sorry!

I would suggest you still ask your parents but ask for both sexes so you aren't giving it away Think

My only other suggestions would be

Angus or Hamish.

I don't like Beau either it Reminds me of an old fashioned person asking how your B/F is - they would ask about your beau. Also from Days of Our Lives - soap stars names are off limits altogether for me.

thanks for all the replies i didnt see them til today sorry!

yes bec i am most definitely having a boy! had my morph scan but the guys didnt say what it was.... the trainee guy i had did mention 'he' at the beginning but i thought maybe it was just you know how they just say it out of habit? it took so long i didnt bother to ask them to confirm it as i had a 4d scan right after. but bubs was stil in a difficult position and the lady had a hrd time, but she said she would put her bets on a boy but dont hold her to it... i eventually got my scan pics disc off the moprph scan and in there, 1 pic you can see his boy bits :) THEN i had an appt with my OB yesterday and he does scans every visit in his office- and on the screen, my boys not-so-small BOY bits popped up on the screen! lol. i saw them,. then my ob quickly moved the scanner away and was like, oops did you wanna know the sex? i was like haha i saw that, and yes i already knew its a boy, so thats deffo boy bits? he went back and yeah, no mistaking that!!!! (my OB is funny joked about it being like watching a porno as my boy had his legs spready wide open with them on the screen lol. sorry if anyone finds it offensive, but my oB is SOOOOOO good and so light hearted that its something i thought was funny lol)

thanks for all of these names :) there are a couple there i;d cross off straight up for different reasons (family member with that name) but for the most part they are really good ideas :) have to add, Arhcer is my Nan's middle name :) because dad had no boys to pass on the middle name thing, i got my mothers middle name and my sister got a new middle name as well as my nans middle name of archer as well so she has 2. i had also thought of cameron on m,y list as i found its a name to do with my nans clans etc. i also like damien (damon reminds me of that one) as an idea, also keegan and leo and hunter (lol OUAT i actually thought oh i;ll do beau hunter- ths was for my previous baby- til i realised that it was 'bow hunter' and you just cant do that to a kid!) need to pick out ones i like and then try and run them past hubby :)

hubby has said that i can choose the name but of course i want him to at least not hate my choice :) so the other night i run him past the idea of 2 middle names- he said no til i explained to him why....

i originally just wanted sylvester- my pops middle name passed onto him by his father whose name was that. then i thought oh i havent included any of mums family... my mum for the most part is adopted bu her stepfathers family so has no connection to her bio dad or her mothers families... she did however out of all her half siblings, she had 1 full brother who i loved with all my heart but he committed suicide about 9 years ago. he went by the name of fred but his real name was shane, so i thought i could perhaps do shane sylvester as bubs middle name :) hubby was ok with that. i;ve had suggestions to do shane as a first name but i dont want it asd a first name, its not what i want to call him by, and i want to just have that middle name to remember my uncle by and not have him named specifically after my uncle mostly given the way he passed away iygwim? i'm more than happy for it as a middle name but not as a first name iygwim.... so just have to think of what will go with those middle names now.... our surname isnt exactly short but i remember they hardly ever have to sign their middle names anyway.

Emily- everytime i see or hear the name sidney for a boy it reminds me of the sexist man off the old 'carry on' movies, which i used to watch all the time at my nan and pops as i was growing up! (which is funny cos a lot of them arent exactly kid-friendly and often a lot of sexual innuendos in them as well!)
