I wish I could even afford to get my kids into childcare!! :x Im a single stay at home mum with a 20mth old and a 9mth old! I want to go back to work and have a mature adult conversation who will listen to what i say even when the wiggles is on tv!! I have had my children every day and night for the past 20months 5days 6hrs and 10mins!!! If the stupid government bought down the prices of childcare then maybe I could send my kids to childcare! then i wouldnt have to be claiming government payments because i could be out working and and earning my children a better life!!! I am very sorry if I am to be considered rude or crass.. I have just had a gutful of not giving my kids the life they really deserve!!!

mamaof2beauties - it is hard on your own- it can become very overwhelming.

If you do study through tafe or university 9you can do these course via distance education or online) then you are eligible for a program called Jet. This drastically cuts your childcare fees to something ridiculously affordable like $1.00 a day !!!!! AND you would be working towards a qualifiaction :D just a though

you can go to TAFE snd they have cildcare there on (some) campuses and I THINK you dont have to pay for it because its part of the course cost.

Geez Kim that is a long time with the kids without a break you poor bugger. Is there any chance that your DF can look after the kids while you do some part time work maybe on the weekends of even in the evening just so have that little something/time/conversation for yourself.

As for childcare crisis, I think it is a bit of yes and no.
I've just gotten Angus into the daycare centre that I wanted, they told me the wait would be 6-12 months and it's been pretty much spot on 6 months. They did tell me when I lodged the application to check every 4-6 weeks to let them know that I was still interested, so I did and then just yesterday finally got the news that we could get one of the days :D :D They said once he is in at least one day then I will have more flexibility to get the other day and even change days if I want too. There were other centres that he could have gone into straight away but I was really particular about this being the only one he went to so decided to hold out. I think that if you are really desperate tho you would just have to take what is available, and that is not necessarily fair.
Proudly made it to 13 months and 2 weeks

6 months and going strong

Thankyou so much for your suggestions!! :D unfortunatly DF works from 12midday to 11pm weekdays and we use the weekends as our family days.. We cant even afford to live together so at the moment he is living in a house 3suburbs away whilst I live with my parents and the kids.. we are hopefully going to find a house together very soon  At the moment (as i type this  ) i am looking at online courses.. I have found some great courses that I could easily do and fit into my budget :P

hmmm next question :?: does anyone know of a good quality centre I can put my childs name down for? I live in SE Qld in Kingston area..
