I am pregnant and want to know if anyone has had any luck with skin care for stopping stretchmarks? I have heard that some are not safe to use and can harm my baby but I am so confused by which ones are ok and actually work to prevent stretchmarks, as I happily grow into my 9 month bump!

Hi there :D Welcome to M&B forum!!

I think you will find that bio-oil is the most widely used and most popular stretch-cream prevention treatment on the market. As the name suggests it is an oil and you can just rub it on your belly once or twice a day.
I didn't use anything on my first two pregnancies and was just lucky (and thanks to genes) I didn't get any stretchmarks. I am pregnant atm with my third and have been using bio-oil just for peace of mind :D

Also there is Plamer's Coco Butter- but it can be quite thick in this weather.....

And avocado oil is another good one! I think the oils help to keep the skin more hydrated and last longer than creams.

Hope this helps you out and we hope to see you more in the forums :D

Hey! Congrats on your pregnancy, I am 3 months pregnant and have had 8 girlfriends all use this product called belli skin care, Elasticity Belly Oil that helps to prevent stretchmarks. Their doctor told them it was the safest to use, then I saw it on a current affair the other night as well. I read up all about in on their website and it talks heaps about what is safe, really interesting. None of my friends got ANY stretchmarks at all and swear by this for stopping stretch marks. I have only just started using it but so far so good! I ordered all of their other skin care for pregnancy as well from belliskincare.com.au and LOVING it. Wish you all the best for the months ahead, we are together in the skin stretch J don’t forget to join the VIP thing on their site before you order, you get a discount that way, i forgot myself but definitely worth it you get 15% off. Good luck.

i used bio oil, BUT if you are genetically prone to getting stretchmarks, which i am, you will get them no matter what prevention you use. Alot of women are lucky, but i knew i would as all the women in my family got them, plus i already had old stretchmarks on my hips (they got REALLY huge during puberty) so there was NO escaping them for me, however, by using the bio oil even now, they have faded dramatically to being the faded, light silver colour.
