Hi Twinmonkey thanks for your story about your experience with short cervix.

I have scan tomorrow to see if it has shortened further. You mentioned you posted your birth story (where can I find that?)

I am still working at the moment from home and not due to finish work for 6 weeks....What do you think, I will be 33 weeks by then???

Also when did they give you the steroids, just before you had the babies? did you have natural then??? and where your babies head down??? So far both of mine are Breech.

Birth stories is part of the baby club section. I'm not clever enough to work out how to post a link to it.

I had my steroid shots at 30 weeks. It was two injections 24 hours apart. It was to help protect their lungs, brain lining and stomach lining if they were to arrive before 34 weeks.

My babies were heads down from 25 weeks. Yes I had a very fast 2.5 hour natural labour. That was from waters breaking to holding 2 babies. I think the fact that my cervix was shortened and I had been dilated to 3 cm for a few weeks helped speed things up.

In a way you are lucky as you only have yourself to look after. I found the most frustrating part about the whole situation was my oldest daughter. I wasn't supposed to do any of the normal things we used to do (but I will admit I did a lot of them anyway).

Wishing you the best for your scan today Rach.
I hope it shows no change in your cervix and those little bundles stay tucked up nice and tight for some time yet!!
Try and keep pressure of your cervix as much as possible...it may be boring and hard but remember to keep an eye on the prize...two gorgeous little bundles as close to term as possible.

Thanks TwinMonkey, Lisa and April.

Had scan today and cervix has not changed!!! Good news for now. dr has said just take it easy and I am going to work from home I was planning on finishing in 5 more weeks but I think I will finish earlier. I am so over it and not really concentrating on work anyway, it is way down on the list of priorities at the moment!

Twinmonkey - I dont know how you did it with a 2 year old. I find it hard enough not getting stuckinto the house work and doing heaps of things I shouldnt!! my Dr does not want to give me the steriods just yet as he said you can only do it twice before it is not good for you and he wants to wait a couple of weeks ( he is hopeful that I still have more weeks in me!)

Anyway i will keep you all updated.... How are your twins going????? you had a boy and girl right!!!! we would love that!! but dont really mind. My sister and brother are twins!

Yep well that would be about right. I didn't have mine till 30 weeks. I wasn't told about only being able to have 2 doses thou.

Thank you Trents mum for pulling my story up for Rach to read.

Yes we had boy girl twins. They are going great. They both weigh nearly 3 kgs. Feed and sleep really well. and Mikayla loves them.

I used to get in so much trouble from my husband, mum and sister because I used to do washing and sometimes (if Mikayla had made a mess) I'd vaccumm.

Rach that is great news that your cervix has not shortened any more.
Now make sure you take it easy...finishing up work sounds like a really good idea.
The steroids stay current in your system for 8 weeks. I had mine at 24 weeks with both Indiana and Maxx and if I had of made it to 32 weeks I would have got a second dose.
Just remember ever day and every week your babies get stronger and better prepared to face the world.
I am really hoping you can make it thru to 35-36 weeks.
Avoid that housework!!! Relax and bake those precious babies.
I know it is hard and there were times with the two little ones I couldn't avoid it...but DH pitched in a lot and helped. You have to get him to do as much as possible...it is only for a short time and it will be worth it in the end

Take care...will be looking out for updates.

Not so good news today, just had scan - cervix shortened from 2.1cm last week to 1.4cm. I have been told strict bedrest now and no more work. I also had a steroid shot and will have another tomorrow. to help babies lungs if they arrive shortly!!!!

Hoping to make the 30 week mark!!!!

had scan today I have both good and bad news:

The Good: Cervix has not shortened more, still 1.4cm so DR said I could ease up on the bed rest, can get up and do some things nothing strenuous though.

The Bad: Babies have slowed down in growth ( both of them) and are only in the bottom 5% and 15% of babies at their gestation. So OB said we may have to take them out sooner rather than later, not because of my cervix now but because of their size. For now we are just keeping an eye on them and having weekly scans, but I could be having these babies in a fortnight or 4 weeks. i think my dream of getting to 35 weeks is out.....
