Wow! That's awesome :D Congratulations

Spontaneous labor in a normal woman is an event marked by a number of processes so complicated and so perfectly attuned to each other that any interference will only detract from the optimal character. The only thing required from the bystanders is that they show respect for this awe-inspiring process by complying with the first rule of medicine - nil nocere (do no harm)

Hi Julie,
Congrats. It's a bit of a shock to be told you are expexcting twins. What type of twins are you having?
I'm the mum of 6 week old fraternal twins Olivia and Dylan. We found out at our 12 week scan that we were expecting twins and I burst out in hysterical laughter because there was no history of twins in our family.
I'm not going to lie and I don't want to scare you but my twin pregnancy was the hardest thing I've done. I was huge and uncomfortable. I had a kidney problem at 15 weeks, at 25 weeks found out I had a short cervix and was in danger of premature labour but managed to hold on til 35 weeks and gave birth vaginally in 1.5 hrs. And my twins were a decent size, 2.4kgs and 2.7kgs and didn't need the help of the NICU.
In terms of care it was nothing special. I saw the hospital OB instead of the midwives for my appointments and had ultrasound every 5 weeks to monitor the growth.
If you have any questions just ask. If i can answer them I will.

Hi Julie,

OOoooooo your post brought it all back for me
Our little twins are almost 9 mths old. It has absolutely FLOWN!! Congratulations by the way...
We found out at an 8 week scan that there were 2 in there...I remember like it was yesterday, we already had 2 DD's and thought long and hard about a 3rd...To find out it was to be 3 AND 4 was a huge shock. We'd just bought our first brand new car so had to sell that, had to extend the home which was scarey but hey its worth more now!! Everyone around us thought it was wonderful etc. I felt very guilty fo not being happy too... DH dealt really well, Im glad he did because I was really contemplating other avenues :(
My body doesnt seem to cope well being pregnant yet the drs got me to 38 weeks! It was horrendous but you just do it...I'd love to chat more about it, pls msg me or keep the thread going!!

A very big thankyou to everyone for the wishes and congratulations.

twinmonkey - Yes we were in shock too....i only have one cousin that i know of that has had twins, not even sure if it was our side or her partners that carried the twin factor. I'm not sure as yet what kind of twins as they had trouble seeing if they had their own placenta or not so i have been told i need to wait until the 20 week scan. I will be seeing my dr this week so hopefully she can shed some light on this all for me.

Babyboy3yOldboy - No fertility drugs or anything....just a random occurance.

libstar79 - Would love to chat more to you. At the moment i am just wondering what is different besides the obvious about a twin pregnancy and how do your appointments change compare to a single baby pregnancy.
