Mikayla has become rather sick over the last few months or so. She had lost a heap of weight, she lost her energy, and she spent her day crying and clinging to me. She was tested for coeliac disease back at the begining of November and tested positive but it took until a couple of weeks ago for us to finally get her in for the biopsy to confirm it. She does have coeliac and has been improving sooo much since being on the new diet. We now have to keep an eye on Izzy as with them being ID she has a 70% chance of getting it. She has tested positive but that can change later in life. Their 2 older brothers also have it so it's not a new thing to deal with. It was just really hard watching her get so sick and yet the stupid hospital closes down for a month ofter xmas so they dont do outpatients or day surgerys then. grrrr. So thats why I havent been on in ages.

I hope you are all doing well

Welcome back :D But so sorry to hear Mikayla has been unwell :( That would have been a tough time watching her get sick and waiting for the diagnosis. I am also coeliac, a number of my family members also have it and we have kept my DS and DD G/F since birth but recently had them gene tested. They both carry the gene for Coeliac Disease but cant confirm nor rule out the have it. So next step is introducing gluten over the next 6 weeks and back for more blood tests.
All the best with Mikaylas recovery, hopefully you've seen huge improvements for her on the G/F diet and fingers crossed Izzy stays well

Thats horrible that she has been unwell.
Coeliac disease is becoming more known now though. Its easier to buy gluten free then it was when I first heard of it. My DS1 biological father (sperm donor) has cd as does his mother and father and both of his sisters. I had DS1 tested when he was 2 but it only came back with lactose intolerance. I actually have the thingo again to have him tested again cos Im seeing more and more symptoms displayed all the time!
Good luck!

Thanks guys, there has been a massive improvement in her already. She has energy again and she is laughing and smiling at everything again.

I do agree gluten free is becoming much easier to deal with. My oldest was diagnosed when he was 14 months, he is 12 now. The food back then really was horrible, you could only buy his food from a health food shop, now its through the supermarket and it tastes so much better. I have Izzy on a mainly gluten free diet. She refuses to eat the gluten free cereal (heck she is a pain to get to eat our cereal) so she sits at the other end of the table and eats that but everything else is gluten free. Im not worried about the whole diet issue. It was just so hard to watch her get sicker and sicker knowing all she needed was the biopsy but they wouldnt do anything sooner because it was xmas time.
Once again a massive thanks
Pete
