Hello all

Just a quick question.....i was a size 8-10 when i fell pregnant with my twins and i'm currently 17 weeks and already wearing size 12. Can anyone in a similar position let me know how big i am likely to get with twins and what size maternity clothes i will need to buy as i am looking at starting to shop now.

Thankyou....Julie

Not too sure hon.

I know a lady that was pregnant with twins, and she LOST weight, and didn't gain much at all, so she didn't go up much in size.

I think maybe buying as you go along would be a better idea. A pain in the butt I know, but at least you will be comfortable as you go along :D

Congratulations!!

I'd buy as you go/need as well. If you were starting to buy early for money reasons, id put the amount you can afford to spend, on a coles/myer type card, or in a seperate bank account for later on!

The other thing you could consider is buying a few "around the home, to the supermarket" comfy clothes from the op shop.. If you get anything you dont get much wear out of, or anything yo dnt wear at all, its not a big waste..
I would buy a nice outfit or 2 brand new tho, nothing better than new clothes!! :)

As for how big you'll get, no one really knows until it happens!!
My aunty had 2 boys, (4 & 2) when she fell pregnant with her twins, she did get bigger than her single-baby pregnancies, but she wasnt that much bigger really, it was only in the end she stopped wearing her old maternity clothes.

I put on about 18kg with my twins and wore the same maternity clothes the whole way through as it was only my belly that got bigger. I just bought the clothes with the adjustable buttons inside the waist band and made sure that the legs and bum were a little lose. Tops got a little short towards the end but I just wore a belly band or singlet top underneath.
For home I had some maternity pants i got from bigw that were 3/4's and a bit like yoga pants. They had a roll down waist and were sooooo comfy especially towards the end when i was really big. They were great for in hospital after the birth as they were soft on my c-section cut. I also had a dress (or should I say tent) that was loose that I wore at home when we had no visitors as it was more comfy towards the end (didnt wear it in public as it looked hideous).
I bought some stuff at about 16 weeks and then a little bit more at 26 weeks and that lasted me until 37 weeks. I found undies the hardest things to get as one baby was down so low and breech that even hipsters would roll down. .

Hope this helped a bit.

All my maternity clothes from my first (single) pregnancy fit me for my twin pregnancy. I didn't really have to buy anything as the season were almost the same for them too. All I bought was a nice sundress from Kmart and it was a medium.
If you still have maternity clothes from your other pregnancy you should be right. But I think it really depends how you carry the weight you gain while you are preganant. I just wore all my usual tops with a maternity singlet underneath to make the extra length up and only had to buy maternity pants. But I only put on about 10kgs.
I found it much harder the 2 weeks after I had the twins fitting into clothes as I was too small for my maternity clothes but too big for my normal clothes.

It's something very hard to advise on. I put on 30kgs with my twins, and 28 with my last singelton baby  So you see just because you are carryins twins does not mean you will get huge. As you can see from an above poster she only gained 18kgs, still 6kgs less than what I gained with my first singelton (24kgs).

I tended to shop in the "Big Ladies" section at the stores, much cheaper than anything with the word Maternity attached hehe Kmart is great for having awesome sales, I got one skirt that I wore to death for only $6
