Hi all, hope everyone is having a good day :D

Question, Milica is 23months old today :D :D and I am wondering if she is ready to go from her cot to a bed (which really is the cot that transforms into the bed IYKWIM :? ) because the cot converts to bed, it doesn't really have the sides once you take the drop rail off - I am just worried that she may roll out during the night and hurt herself.

at what age or how did you know when your little one was ready for a bed and exactly how did you do it?

any advice would be great.

Before you were conceived I wanted you, before you were born I loved you, before you were an hour old I would die for you. This is the miracle of life

all my kids were aged 13-18mths when they moved into a bed - a toddler bed, with small half rails near the head....i didnt worry so much them falling out - bound to happen sooner or later (for me it was better than them jumping out of the cot!)....on the big day - we dismantled the cot, replaced with bed and that was that - welcome to your bed, no going back!

if your worried about her falling out or anything, you could put something soft on the floor to break her fall, or you could roll a doona and place on side of bed.

Good luck!!

I knew it was time to move Evelyn the day after she climbed out of her cot and came crashing to the floor of her bedroom!

Ditto! Riley was 20 months and it was becoming dangerous. I decided the risks of him falling out of bed were less then if he jumped/fell off his cot. Plus I was preg and needed the cot for the new bub.

Both of my kids went straight into big beds (single beds) with no railings. I put one side of the bed against the wall, and a matress on the floor next to the open side. Riley only had 1 incident, which was the first night and he thought he was in his cot so stood up and went to lean on the rails and of course fell off the bed. Other then that neither of them had any problems. And slept better if anything! :D

We moved DD1 to a big bed at about 16 months. I waited till she was able to walk and get in and out of the big bed by herself. Probably wouldn't have moved her so early but we needed the cot for DD2 however DP is currently hassling me cause it's time to move DD2 to a big bed now apparently, I am hoping I can hold off for a little while, she's still my little baby...
