Tillie Arala was born on the 7/7 at 4:48pm 11 days late!!

I went into the hospital to be induced on the wednesday night, had the gel and was sent to the ward..nothing much happened overnight except for some mild contractions..slept a bit, played battle ships with jeremy on his phone and lost every game :( ( being about to give birth i think he personally should have let me win!) anyway checked again in the morning and cervix still very posteriour so another lot of gels..grrr..send back to the ward..waiting waiting, more mild contractions..back over to birth suites in the afternoon checked and finally they are able to break my waters..im now 3cm..feeling a bit like the whole process is going to take forever if it took that long for me to get to 3cm..anyway they break my waters adn tell me they will give me an hour to see if labour begins on its own, if its doesn i will need the drip..contractions start pretty much immediately, very intense about 1 minute apart..i had a student midwife monitoring me as well as another midwife..i told the midwife that i didnt want to deliver on the bed so she said she would go and get me a mat so i could just push where i was when i felt the need..no sooner had she left the room that i could feel the baby coming, so told the student midwife who went into a panic and was yelling out for the other midwife who comes running back in, both are getting gloves on and the baby is actually coming so jeremy grabs the mat and throws it underneath me while they come running with towels to cover the mat.. anyway after few pushes tillie arala is born, weiging 8ld 9oz!! my biggest baby by far! just after we were up on the bed the doctor came into the room to see if we needed to start the drip, she was a bit shocked to see that we had already had the baby...the whole process taking one hour and three mins!!!

Your little princess is finally here! It seems she was in quite a hurry once the time came! Congratulations Ally, can't wait to see pics!

Spontaneous labor in a normal woman is an event marked by a number of processes so complicated and so perfectly attuned to each other that any interference will only detract from the optimal character. The only thing required from the bystanders is that they show respect for this awe-inspiring process by complying with the first rule of medicine - nil nocere (do no harm)
