Well this is Zack's birth story.......

All towards the end of the pregnancy, I had been having LOADS of braxton hicks contractions.... never had any with the other 2 so was quite different... anyway once before I was having quite a few painful ones and REALLY thought I was going into labour and that Zack would be out very soon...but no, just BH's..... so, I found it hard to figure out if what I was having was just BH's or not!! (the night I went into labor)

So I was scheduled in for a c-section 2 days after I had him... Mr Impatient we call him because he couldn't wait 2 more days and he also can't wait for his feeds!! (feeding almost every 2hours, my poor boobs can't keep up!)

Anyway, about 2am Tuesday 23rd August, I started having loads of BH's again... and then it felt like Zack had moved his head right down and omg it hurt so bad it made me yell out!! But still, unsure if this was it or anything..... , I decided to have a shower and see if they went away when I was moving about and they kind of did but as soon as I laid down again they came again... so I didn't get much sleep but I really didn't think I was in labor because of the previous BH's I'd had before....

So by 5am when DH had to get up for work, I asked him if he could stay home for a couple hours just whilst I catch up on some sleep because I didn't get much... so he gets up and tends to the other 2 kids whilst I *try* to sleep but still having painless contractions so decide to ring the maternity ward since I had had a few painful ones earlier and they say I'm probably not in labor but to come and get checked out, no hurry just have a shower then come on in....

So I tell DH... I really don't want to make a big deal out of this and have my mum come over to watch the other two if it's not the real thing or anything so tell him I will just drive myself in and if its all happening then I will call you....! He reluctantly agrees and off I go!!

So, i start driving down South Street at 8am.... Great!! Peak.Hour.Traffic!!! lol And.... guess who starts having proper contractions?!! Yep, me....!! Hmmmm, maybe DH should have come after all....LOL

So I manage to ring DH as Im stuck in traffic on the freeway and say hey maybe you should have a shower because I think I really am in labor..!! Anyway, I finally get there, pull into the carpark....., try to find a ticket machine that actually works whilst bending over having more contractions...lol, get into the hospital where they put the trace on me and then half an hour later my OB comes in and says "Yep, your in labor, baby will be out within the hour"!!

I grab my phone, ring DH and my mum.... DH goes crazy packing my already mostly packed suitcase with things I didn't need... .... then he speeds **tsk, tsk** all the way to the hospital and we are taken down to theatre to where I had a spinal and epi and Zack was taken out....

We were allowed to video the whole thing so we have the whole procedure on video and it's awesome to watch!! My blood pressure dropped obviously quite low about 3 times during the procedure and wow, that is a horrible feeling let me tell you!! And on the third time I started dry reaching, so I bet my Ob was having a great time trying to sew me up whilst that was happening!!

Anyway, I really believe we are third time lucky with Zack because he is just the most perfect baby.... just feeds and sleeps all day and night long!! Oh I spoke too soon he has just woken up!!

Hope you enjoy my birt story and will add some pics soon :)

Congrats again on the Birth of Zack! Wub

I can't believe you drove yourself in although I can understand you thinking that may be this wasn't it if those BH's had been confusing you the whole time! LOL

Glad all went well in the end! ThumpUp

LOL Must be a third baby thing! I drove myself to hospital in labour too! Then had the conundrum of having the car at the hospital with all the car seats in it. (Serves hubby right for saying 'it must be gall stones with all that beep your taking for reflux!') And bubby was a beauty too. Sleep, feed, poo, feed, sleep, poo.

Congrats Kathryn for your beautiful Zack. BigGrin
