I think I can say that I successfully breastfed my bubba.. I am very proud of myself for doing that...BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

but, what I would like to know is, is it ok ....

to continue to feed him successfully with the right amount of milk if i only feed once a day and that's at night? Iknow it's supply and demand thingy but is this what happens with the whole weaning getting older part.

should i be feeding him more? he eats like a horse and drinks about a 1/4 or 1/2 cup of milk at breaky... and drinks water through out the day..

I don't really want to give up yet but he only really wants it just before bed and I probably could get away with not feeding him then.. but i'm not ready to let go just yet...

thanks in advance...
Kerrie

When I weaned DD she was only having a 5 minute feed before bed, it's the best way to wean as your body adjusts and you don't get engorged from going cold turkey.
Apparently when we start feeding less our milk becomes more concentrated so they are still getting lots of good stuff! You can feed as little or as often as you like, he'll still be getting you antibodies through the milk (even one feed a day) so keep going as long as you want to with one feed. The longer you feed is also beneficial to you, with reductions in cancer rates etc. There was a thread on it a little while ago.

Congrats on getting so far :)
DD1 - December 2009 - breastfed for 22 months
DD2 - January 2012 - straight back onto the booby feeding bandwagon

Both my girls self weaned at 13 months but by this stage they were down to one BF before bed. At 13 months they both decided to drop that last feed, I was wanting to keep going a lot longer but they just were not interested anymore and refused

BF for 13 months
BF 13.5 months

I have only been feeding Dylan and Olivia before bed since January. Dylan lasted until last month when he started to laugh at me and Olivia was still feeding until monday but I spent 4 nights in hospital with Mikayla so we decided to make that the end of Liv's feeding.

Congrats Kerrie BigGrin

I just went with what Reiss wanted this time around and I ended up weaning him at 26 months (as he was only wanting it for comfort in the end).
