Hi ladies, I've been on the mini pill since my son was a few months old. He's now nearly 1 and when I had my yearly check up with my doctor she suggested changing from the mini pill to the regular combo type pill (Levlen ED) because I am having a lot of spotting while on the mini pill. She said that it is fine to take even though I am still breastfeeding and it won't dry up my milk supply because my milk supply is already established. BUT, when I went to get it from the chemist he said that I should not take it if I was breastfeeding and that basically my doctor was wrong. I ended up not getting it filled Has anyone else changed to this pill while breastfeeding and been fine supply wise?

I just started doing some reading on this because the mini pill is not for me either. There seems to be mixed advise. Some articles believe it won't have an effect after your milk is established, but some do I'm interested to hear from anyone who has actually had experience with this!

With my DD I took the mini pill till she was 6 months old and then went to the propper pill (levlen ED). My doctor said the mini pill isn't as effective once baby starts having solids/reducing BFs. It didn't seem to effect my supply at all and we BFed till she was 12months.
I am currently on the mini pill after having DS but will be asking to go back onto Levlen at his 6 month checkup.
