Hi Ladies!

I need to know a bit more about good and bad food.

Let me know what I can eat daily and what I can't!

My major craving atm is Red Rooster Chicken and chips or the normal BBQ from Coles... so i have heard its bad for you as its been sitting for too long? can you head it up more to kill the bacteria?

Have a chat with your healthcare provider for more advice, but in the meantime, I found this brochure really helpful:

(replace DOT with . as we cannot post direct links)

Oh gosh, there's so much conflicting advice out there. I can't help you in the meat department, cos I'm vego but when I was pregnant, I was told to avoid: undercooked eggs, pre-made pasta/coleslaw from supermarkets, soft cheeses, parsley...hmmm what else? But consider that our mums didn't have all these restrictions on their diets and most of us turned out fine! When in doubt...throw it out! A friend of mine was told to not eat anything more than three days old..eg. if it's been in the fridge too long. And wash your fruit and vegies before you eat them...I think most of the concerns were about Listeria (which I think may be quite uncommon?) Good luck with the cravings!

For parsley I think it's as it may have been sitting around for a long time, and bacteria can build up if it's not washed properly.

I've been eating runny eggs all through this pregnancy, the reason being that the risk is very low, and the only thing I'm risking is Salmonella (which is nasty, but will affect me not the baby). I won't eat deli meats and salads or soft cheeses though.

Listeria is VERY rare, so don't stress about it too much.

I usally go by the rule of it being really hot - OK
or Really cold - OK...

Maybe try to get a chicken from coles/woolworths that have just come out of the oven.

I was really strict with myself with DD and wouldn't go near ANYTHING that was supposedly bad to eat in pregnancy...

This time around I've been a bit more slack Blushing and I've indulged in ham (but I buy the Woolworths ones that are packaged into separate portions so everytime I eat it it's been freshly opened) plus BBQed chicken and chips from Chicken Treat/Red Rooster (was a big craving of mine lol)

I've made sure all meat is thoroughly cooked though, I won't eat anything that is cool or cold (no cold chicken etc) and if it's pink then I don't even go there!!! Even though I normally eat rare steak etc when not pregnant!!!

Yayyy runny eggs really... I've been wanting eggs Benedict for brekky for ages but thought it was bad for bubs as well. Might just have to go out for brekky in the morning YAY.

Lili I've been going with the whole if it's super hot then it's all good. Like others have said I won't eat anything from the deli neither will I eat soft cheese. I didn't know if cream cheese was ok or not for a while there but apparently it is... Please correct me if I'm wrong. I also make sure that I wash all my fruit and veg really well. If we eat at a restaurant then I ask for my food really well done.

The whole what you can and can't eat is confusing and it's super easy to get lost with it all. If I'm not sure then I just avoid it and look it up if I really want it ThumpUp .

Yumm I feel like roast chicken now LOL.
