So here we go.. This may be longBigGrin

It all started on Sunday the 1st of January. I woke up with period like pains that were mild. I went to the loo and had a huge show, which was way bigger then all my other ones. Anyway, I decided it was nothing and it could be ages away still so I carried on with the morning activities etc. At lunch I went to the loo and had what looked like wetness in knickersBlink , to me it didn’t look like wee. I called the hospital as i thought i may be having the same start as with my DD where I leaked a little and had to be induced. We got to hospital and went on monitor. No contractions were found and was told they were probably BH. My OB Brad came in and did an internal to see if it was fluid. It wasn’t. However he advised me to his surprise i was 4 cm dilated and he could feel the bag of waters and her head, pressing down on my cervix so much he was worried he might have popped it. Anyway he said for me to go home and see what happens, and since he had "disturbed” the nest he wouldn’t be surprised if he saw me in the next 24 hours.LOL

We decided to drop DD off at the parent’s in-law in case. Fast forward to Monday morning. Still had the pains but nothing further had happened. We decided to go get DD. as I was there I went to the loo and then "POP" my waters broke.Scared So we toddled off the hospital which was only 5 min away. This was at 11 am. Lucky DH had waterproofed my seat the night before we a over abundance o garbage bags and a water proof mattress protector and towelsApplause . as I stepped out the car my poor maternity pad gave way and my waters leaked everywhere , down my legs and on my brand new Havi thongs!!!.Cursing This was in a busy car park too. So I wedge a towel between my legs and waddled in the hospital and down to maternity with people looking at me everywhere. I and DD were in stitches.. LOL LOL

I get hooked up... again.... and they confirm it is my waters ( DER!!!!d'oh! ). I start having very mild contractions every 20 min. I eat lunch while they did my paperwork etc. finally at 1pm I finally get moved to the birthing suite. My contractions were still the same. I walk the short distance to my room and then they start !OhMyGod

For the next 40 min I rock back and forth etc. they had started to get a tad more painful and 15 min apart. At 2Pm I decide to have a shower. I hop in and get a contraction and feel like I need to poo HAHA.Blushing So I sit on the loo. The midwife comes in and asks if I feel pressure and I said yes so she whips me off the loo as she doesn’t want a dunny delivery and does an internal. I am 6 cm stretching to 7-8 with a contraction. It is now 2:15. I lay over the bed rest and have some gas. Contractions are now 5 min apart lasting about 30 sec. DH is massaging my back while my mum and DH mum are talking about the weather lol

At 2:25 I tell the midwife I need to push. She asked if I was sure and I said yes I have been feeling the urge for the last 4 contractions and have been fighting it. (I knew the feeling from DD). She turns me over and calls Brad whom arrives at 2:27pm. He does an internal and said lets push!! I’m 10cm. I ask to roll back over as I wanted gravity to help since I tore badly last time. He said to push once so he can gauge how far I had to go. So I gave an all mighty push and she crowned. Next push was her head, and her body just slithered out ha-ha. She was born at 2:33pm. So I pushed for say 3 minutesDancing Dancing Applause Applause

Sienna was placed straight on my chest. Took her a bit to let out an almighty cry though. But was fine after that. It was great to have mum and mum in law and DH in there to see her arrive (more so for my MIL as she didn’t get asked her attend her daughters delivery so this was her first grandchild she had seen been born). DH went and got DD and FIL and my dad and they all came in (I was all covered up lol ) to meet Sienna who was minutes old. The look on DD face was priceless.. Makes me teary thinking about it..Crying She was in awe of Sienna and very concerned about me lol. Anyway they all had tea and coffee while I laid there and had photos taken

I can’t believe how quick it all was. A few hours from my waters breaking to her on my chest. I only had about an hr of active labour not to mention only 2 pushes). I am glad my OB was there or he would have been too late

So once they had taken Sienna to check her over they said they were going to take her into the special care nursery to get her checked out fully as she is classified as premmie as she was 4 weeks early. Once there they did her blood sugar and temp which came back not good. Sad Her blood sugar was very low and so was her temp. So they put her in a humidicrib to warm her up etc and hooked her up to a few monitors to check her heart rate and oxygen saturation levels. After 20 min they move her to an oxygen humidicribe as she requires oxygen. They also then insert a feeding tube and give her formula to try and boost her blood sugar levels up... and this is pretty much where she stayed for 3 nights before she was then placed in a normal bassinet.Crying She was still hooked up to a breathing sensor and had her tube in. Every 3 hours I would walk to see her and express for her. She was also given top ups of formula when required. On Thursday she had her last tube feed. And on Friday she was out of special care and free of wires and tubes. We then shared our first night togetherWub and were discharged sat morning.

She is doing great now, is slowly getting back up to her birth weight. She is a great feeder. I tend to feed her on demand during the day then give her a feed at 10pm and she wakes at 2:30-3am for a feed then again at 6:30-7am.

I am so in love with my little girl xxxLove

Having a 4 week premmie was stressful enough; I couldn’t even comprehend having a baby born way earlier than that. It is gut wrenching to see them like that. You need alot of strength and support. I take my hat off to these midwifes that specialise in the special care nursery they are amazing.

Hope you enjoyed the read and apologises for it being long

Great birth story Lissa, would have been perfect if she had hung in there a few more weeks! Hope my experience is a short as yours :)
