Hi Girls,

I'm just curious about what you girls have been told about exercise during the 2WW after IUI or IVF.

My FS is pretty laissez faire and says that whatever I normally do is fine, but a part of me worries that exercising too hard, lifting heavy weights and juming around etc might hurt my chances for implantation etc.

Just wondering whether any of you AC girls have been told anything different? I guess I would rather err on the side of caution as we only have 3 IUI chances before we are looking at IVF and I would really rather not go there if we can help it...

TIA Smile

Every FS is different, after all of our transfers we were tilted head down for 30minutes and then advised to rest up for the remainder of the day, so I generally just sat on the couch with my feet up and did nothing Blushing after that I didn't do any heavy lifting or housework and I don't exercise anyway (so didn't need to bother with that) probably for about 3 days then took it easy until BT day
So hoping your 1st attempt works I have everything crossed for you

I have no first hand experience but I would say at the very least keep fit, as in the 30 minutes of light exercise per day kinda thing. It also depends on your current level of fitness. If you are already quite fit, it probably wouldn't hurt to keep going with your normal regime, or pace it down a notch at a level you're comfortable with. But if you are sedentary to begin with, it may put too much stress on your body to begin full-on exercise and your body may decide its too much of a stressful time to go implanting babies!

I at least try to get a walk in my day and even just housework/child-raising can be exercise enough for me haha so its really up to what you feel comfortable with! Good luck!

in both my TWW's Amelia, i had hardcore exercising activities of:

wandering around old european cities - about 10kms a day
climbed stairs
lifted a camera to my eye about 2000 times
lifted icecream to my mouth at least 2 times a day
fantasised about moving overseas (that's hard work, you know).
took long train rides - overnight or all day
took ferries to/from africa

and i was quite fortunate in that this was definitely not detrimental at all to my future bebes.

mmm. *nods*

Thanks girls.

I think I will just keep going with my usual exercise (Contours Gym) but just tone it down a notch, take my weights down a bit and keep my heart rate a bit lower than usual.

Jodie you are a dag! Laugh I very much wish I could participate in exactly the exercise activities you describe. I could definitely manage the icecream lifting I think... BigGrin

That sounds like a perfect idea Mealsy.

I was always told not to overheat in spas and things but your normal exercise routine is ok. Id turn it down just a notch too. But my gosh, you will need it to distract yourself because I'm so sorry to say that this TWW will feel like the longest yet.

Good luck.

I was always told to carry on as usual. But in saying that my Ivf experience wasn't very successful. Hope it's a quick journey for you..
