Hi Girls,

As there seem to be a few of us on Clomid at the moment, I thought I would start a thread so we can all chat about our cycles on clomid etc and also just give each other a bit of support.

And because I love lists, I will start one. Hopefully we can start a Clomid Club BFP list too shortly! ThumpUp

Mealsy (Amelia) 4 cycles on clomid alone (50 mg days 3-7), now on 1st cycle of clomid, FSH injections and IUI

Add me to the list please Mealsy(Amelia) please.

Kezz2 awaiting af to start clomid. Will be starting day 1-5. (100mg).

I have read lots of things about this medication and we tried it a few years back but because I am too old for ivf and not sure if I can go through all that again, physically, emotionally and financially. It is way too draining, my ob said I could give it ago again. No guarantees etc. but like most people I am hoping like hell that it works. I will probably try 5 or 6 cycles then give up I guess. I don't need to do any ultrasounds or bloods just take it day1-5 he said usually big o will be between day 9 and 17 then I should do a test day 28 he said it should show no later. So here's hoping I get a bfp first go.

Sorry for rambling just a tad tired today. Bubba has been sick for days.

Hey- just a general question

Can you still use OPK's while on clomid? Or do you have to use other ways of tracking O? Or do you just DTD the days the doctor has said? Laugh

Ok girls, after my neg test, I am joining the Clomid club!
wondering if all u girls were monitored thru out the rounds, and if any of u found that it made u more regualar or less...??
rather confused and a tad bit upset with recent result, think I can see a incredibly light line but probably wishful thinking and a squint or two! lol!
So good to have a support group, as many of my friends arent really interested in the 'cant have a baby easily talk' all they say is it will happen when its meant to!! Aaaagh sooo irritating!
Looking forward to hearing back from you all.

My doc said I could do the opk's and temping etc but he also said I would do the big o between day 9 and 17 so just dtd frequently. He seemed not really worried about the monitoring he said he would if I wanted to but I can do without all the poking and prodding.

I guess I'm much more relaxed this time round.

Mealsy how you going tonight? Hope you are not stressing too much and getting lots of rest. I remember my first iui I didn't want to move for the week. Way too stressed and excited.

I do hope that we all get out bfp's real soon. And that you are the beginning of the bfp list we will create.

Best of luck and thank you for the well wishes

Nattie - I used OPK's when on clomid and they worked fine - O'd day 17 pretty consistently, but I have always been a bit of a late ovulator... This month no need for OPK's with daily blood tests from day 12 and a HCG trigger injection to make me O on day 16 (was starting to surge myself anyway apparently). We usually DTD every 2nd day from day 10, then an extra couple of times once the OPK is positive just to be sure.

iwanttobeamummy - hi and welcome! I had zero monitoring on clomid. No blood test or ultrasounds at all. I was already O'ing on my own though, so was only on the lowest dose. Without clomid I was O'ing about day 18, then AF would start about 11 / 12 days later. On clomid I O about day 17, then my luteal phase was about 13 / 14 days. So it kind of shifted me very slightly towards a more 'normal' cycle (ie O on day 14 and LP of 14 days). Hope your squinty line is actually a real line in the making! Smile

Kerrie - Aw thanks - you're so sweet Wub I am feeling pretty good (well actually tired, bloated and crampy) and resting up as much as possible with a 2 year old! Laugh RollEyes Looking forward to seeing the start of our BFP list - I wonder who will be first? Exciting! Woot

Just updating to add iwanttobeamummy:

Mealsy (Amelia) 4 cycles on clomid alone (50 mg days 3-7), now on 1st cycle of clomid, FSH inj and IUI, IUI done now in the 2WW

Nattie awaiting af to start clomid (50mg days 3-7), mid cycle scan

Hi there mealsy and all the other lovely ladies, hope all our stays here are short lived!
Here's some info on out TTC story. Im 27 and Dh is 28,we have been trying for 9mths now. I know that compared to some people thats not long, and were young, but it is still no less heartbreaking and a little confidence killing when your body wont do what its meant to do, you know we spent so much of our time trying not to get pregnant, now we want to we cant easily! Ironic isnt it!
I saw my GP last may and she conducted a series of blood tests to see when and in my case if at all I was ovualting, it turns out that my FSH levels were too low to trigger O.
So she sent me to a Gyno who I saw in Oct last yr. She put me on a course of Clomid, 50mg days 2-6.
What makes our efforts a little more difficult is that my Husband is a mine worker so he is only home two weeks at a time, so if its 'time' and he's two hours away at work, well there goes that month!
It needs an extension cord really doesnt it!! LOL
Took my first round in november, was 3 wks late for a period, did everything I could, temp'd OPK'd, then sypmtom spotted for the entire time, only to have my period come on Dec 27 2011.
When AF came I took my second round, and didnt temp or OPK as we were on holidays didnt even symptom spot, until I was about 2 wks late I started feeling nauseous, tired etc etc.
I see my Gyno tomorrow again for a review, and I will be asking a few questions as I am incredibly bloated and my brests are huge they are usually rather small but they are incredibly heavy and sore at the moment.
Its frustrating because according to HPT Im not pregnant, but I havent had a period for 8wks now and apparently I dont have PCOS so Im baffled to work out whats going on.
I will keep you all posted on what happens with our journey, and would love to hear some more background info from the other ladies.
Baby dust to all! BigGrin

Hi all, well just for an update, I have been to the gyno thismorning and she did another urine test..BFN!! Crying
I wasnt suprised but watching her throw yet another test in the bin was like a kick in the teeth. I should have shares in those things.
LOL
I cant help but feel like Im Never going to see two lines on a test, and I always tell myself that their faulty or wrong..or Im some kind of freak that u read about that never gets a positive HPT but ends up being pregnant??RollEyes
So here is what she has done.
She has up'd my dosage to 100mg and wants me to have blood tests on day 21 n 28 I understand that the day 21 one is to check pro levels, but I thought it would be more effective to see earlier in the piece if my follicles were mature enough to release in the first place??
Can anyone shed any light on that for me??Confused
Oh well back to the old drawing board, Brick wall she said if AF doesnt show up by the end of the wk, to take provera to bring it on.
Really hope this is it for us...the golden ticket..Im absolutely terrified of what will happen if this isnt effecitve!
I know we have time and youth on our side but its still a bit hard.

Thanks for letting me vent...baby dust to everyone else. Razz

Mealsy- I think we must be on the same schedule! The FS thinks I O about day 16-18 too! I think I might order some more OPK's then and see how we go ThumpUp

iwanttobeamummy- here is my background for you! Sorry this is long Laugh

I was 25 and my DH was 27 when we started TTC in September 2010- our one year wedding anniversary Wub. A few of our friends had 'accidents' and we naively thought it wouldn't take long- I had read it on average takes a healthy couple 4-6 months to conceive. So at first we were disappointed but not worried, then I asked for a general check up to see if there were any immediate problems. I had a BT on day 21 (of one cycle only) and I had O so told to go away and keep trying until it had been 12 months. Then we went back at 12 months- I was a mess and - I was worried it was never going to happen for us and I said 'we've hit the phase labelled infertile' and the ladies in here held me together and told me not to label myself and not panic (thank goodness for them xo). The local GP I had been seeing ordered a SA for my DH and it came back low 'but not too bad' according to him and he wasn't too interested and gave us a referral for the fertility clinic at a public hospital and didn't organise anymore tests.

I went to another GP my friend had liked and she was helpful because she organised a few more tests like a GTT and full blood screening and an ultrasound that found I have PCOS.

The public hospital appointment was a waste of time Cursing I had gotten a + HPT 2 days before it and we were over the moon and still wanted the appointment to get answers. I started spotting the morning of and went on to have a m/c Crying. The doctor wasn't very helpful- he said DH's SA levels were very low and it wasn't good and agreed with the local GP that I had PCOS without looking at any of my test results ThumbDown

I got a referral to a private specialist and I knew him from the public hospital I work at (and now he's just private) and we was wonderful Dancing so helpful and optimistic! Explained that we have options and is confident that we will have a baby but the 3 of us need to work on it Laugh

So now I'm just waiting for the wicked witch so I can start my first dose of clomid!

Hope that helps Smile

Sorry iwanttobeamummy I was writing my essay when you posted! I just wanted to add I felt the same way- that maybe I would never have that joy of seeing 2 lines come up. Everyone said you'll get to experience it one day and I can't explain my happiness when I did and I'm sure it will be a million times more when it happens again and we get to hear a precious heartbeat Wub - don't lose hope.

Good idea sharing our stories:

We first started TTC in September 2007. We were very excited to discover that I was pg on our 3rd month of trying, and being very naive started happily buying baby things, maternity clothes etc. Noticed a tiny bit of brown blood at 11 weeks 4 days and went to the hospital - turns out there was no heartbeat and I had had a missed miscarriage Crying We were both absolutely completely devastated. I had a D&C and after a month off we got back to trying once again, at least fairly optimistic that it wouldn't take too long... 8 months later still nothing and so we went to a FS who did a whole lot of tests, said there was nothing wrong and to come back in 2 years if still not pg. I was horrified, but as it turns out he was right. On our 10th cycle of TTC after our M/C I fell pg with my gorgeous perfect darling daughter and she was born on 18 September 2009. AF returned at 13.5 months after she was born (I BF) and to our amazement we found out that we were pg again on our very first month of trying! BigGrin Unfortunately yet again the dream ended and I had a m/c at 6 weeks in December 2010. Since then nothing, nada, zilch. Sad We went to a new FS (my OB from my pg with DD) who did a few tests and started me on clomid, even though the tests showed that I had O'd. Apparently some of my hormones were a bit wonky, and he hoped that clomid would help get things back into balance. 4 cycles on clomid later, still nothing. So now we have started on a combination of clomid and injectables, with IUI, and we are curently in the 2WW of our first attempt.

And that's my story. Hoping to be able to add a happier ending very soon. Smile
